Maintaining public order and safety, preliminary criminal investigations and other police investigations are state funded. Police licence services, however, are public transactions, for which the Police charges a cost price in accordance with the Ministry of the Interior Decree on Public Charges. According to the Decree, a transaction fee shall, as a rule, be paid upon submission of an application. Major credit cards and cash are accepted. A cost price of 64 euros/hour is also charged by the Police for any false alarms sent from alarm systems connected to police premises or emergency call centres as well as for false alarms sent by private security companies. Please remember that most Police stations require an appointment in all but the most urgent licence/permit matters. Appointments may also be required in certain licence/permit matters. For more information, please check the website of your local Police department. In the appointment system (poliisi.fi >Luvat>Ajanvaraus), first select Licence services. This will open a list of the locations, where you can make an appointment for the licence/permit transaction you need. The calendar will list available times for the next 2-3 weeks.
