Trade permits for firearms dealing

Trade permits for firearms dealing are granted by the Firearms Administration of the National Police Board.

As of March 1, 2002, a permit has also been required for commercial shooting ranges and commercial training in the use of firearms or gas sprays. Under the transitional provisions, those who were practising any of these when the law entered into force must get a trade permit for firearms dealing within 12 months of the law’s entry into force.

Firearms Administration also issues weapons collector approvals and permits for commercial import, export and transit of firearms, and firearms transfers into and out of Finland. It also arranges a test for persons in charge of firearms dealing, which is held at least twice a year.
