Police Day brings a family event to Jokiniemi, Vantaa – NBI opens its doors to the public
The National Bureau of Investigation and Eastern Uusimaa Police Department will host the Police Day 2026 event in Jokiniemi, Vantaa on Saturday 29 August 2026 from 10:00 to 15:00 The event is free of charge and open to everyone.
The Police Day offers a versatile look at the daily life and work of police officers for people of all ages. The programme includes an equipment display, meetings with the police officers and tidbits about safety. Here you can find the homepage of the event.
A rare opportunity to hear about the activities of the NBI
In honour of the 100th anniversary of the agency, the NBI's doors will once again be open to the public. People will be able to visit the Crime Museum, which is normally closed to the public, and where art forgeries and items from crime history are on display.
– The Police Day is an important opportunity for us to meet members of the public in person and speak openly about police work. On this celebratory year we want to offer the visitors a unique peek to the operations of the National Bureau of Investigation, says the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation, Robin Lardot.
Museum visits have proved popular in previous years, and numbers will again be limited on this occasion.
A diverse programme for people of all ages
At the event, it is possible to:
- see police cars and motorcycles
- meet the Police Lion
- spin the wheel of fortune and win police-themed prizes
- discuss topical subjects with the experts of the police
– We want people to be able to talk with the police without hesitation in the event and ask about matters that raise questions in their daily lives. Mutual discussion will further understanding and the feeling of safety, states the Police Chief of the Eastern Uusimaa Police Department, Marko Viitanen.
Limited entry to the Crime Museum – Ticket required
Entry to the Crime Museum is free of charge, but a ticket is required. The tickets are available at the information tent in front of the NBI building from 9:30 onwards and after that, on the hour from 11 to 14 on the day of the event.
Visitors to the Crime Museum will be screened for security. The deadline for arriving to the security check at the main entrance of the NBI Headquarters is stated on the ticket.
We recommend arriving by train
The event area is located at about a five-minute walk away from the Tikkurila train station. It is possible to park cars or bicycles on a parking field opposite NBI building. Only a limited number of parking spaces are available in the area. No parking is available for the visitors on the NBI premises.
Safety guidelines for the visitors
People entering the NBI Headquarters will be screened for security. Sharp or otherwise dangerous objects are prohibited. Such items as large bags, backpacks and umbrellas are not allowed inside the building, either. Taking pictures inside the building is prohibited.
