5.6.2026 | The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has completed the criminal investigation into damage to two subsea telecommunications cables in the Gulf of Finland in late 2025. The investigation has concluded with four suspects.

1.4.2026 | The Border Guard announced on 31st March 2026 that an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) had been observed on the ice of Lake Pyhäjärvi, located within the municipality of Parikkala. As a result of this incident, the North Karelia Border Guard has initiated a preliminary investigation into the suspected territorial violation caused by the UAV.

4.6.2026 | The National Bureau of Investigation has largely completed an extensive criminal investigation involving Uros Oy, in which the suspected criminal damage amounts to nearly 38 million euros. It is suspected that an organisation consisting of different companies and individuals has deceived several dozen workers into coming to work in Finland in circumstances such as forced labour and has gained criminal proceeds of over 2.3 million euros from this activity.

27.11.2024 | The crime scene investigation of the C-Lion-1 sea cable rupture site has been completed. Investigators have collected samples of the cable for further analysis by the Forensic Laboratory of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and conducted seabed imaging.
