27.6.2024 | The national Police Day will be celebrated on Saturday 10 August 2024. That day, you can get acquainted with police equipment and activities, such as motorcycles, police dogs and mounted police with their horses, at the Police Museum and in its yard. The Police Museum is part of the Police University College.

3.4.2025 | The Police University College (Polamk) and Jamk University of Applied Sciences organized an exercise for the authorities focusing on cybercrime prevention on 25–27 March 2025.

24.6.2025 | A study by the Police University College describes the trend in economic crime and the state of economic crime investigation in Finland.

4.10.2023 | Towards the end of the year, Police University College will organize, for the first time, a national continuing education course on investigation of animal welfare offenses. More than 30 police officers from all parts of Finland will attend the course alongside criminal investigators from the Border Guard and special prosecutors and district court judges from the National Prosecution Authority.

The handbook is intended to serve as a collective guide for investigating crimes against children as well as crimes suspected to have been committed by children. The analyses focus on three themes: shortage of police resources, crimes not reported due to fear of retaliation, and threatening of crime victims and witnesses in the criminal process.

4.6.2025 | National Police Commissioner Ilkka Koskimäki received the new police officers’ ethical oath at the Police University College on Wednesday 4 June 2025. In his speech, Ilkka Koskimäki highlighted the safety and security of schools. The police support the security work carried out in educational institutions. However, the security of schools is a more extensive issue, and not a matter for the police alone.

20.5.2022 | The Police Museum, which is connected with the Police University College, received the Museum of the Year 2022 award granted by the Finnish Museums Association and ICOM (International Council of Museums) Finland.

29.10.2025 | Superintendent Sami Hätönen, who works at the Police University College, has been chosen as the Police Officer of the Year 2025 in Finland. The nomination was announced on Wednesday 29 October 2025 at a seminar in Helsinki.

30.6.2025 | In the future, the Police Museum will keep the historical artefacts of the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo). The items transferred to the museum collections include objects such as a secret mailbox from the 1950s related to espionage and bottles found at sea in the 1970s, intended for the smuggling of prohibited material.

5.9.2022 | For a couple of years now, the Finnish police have been trialling the use of dogs that can sniff out body fluids in criminal investigation, and the training of semen-sniffing dogs has now become one of the official special training areas for police dogs. The next specialty that the Police Dog Training Centre will test with police dogs is sniffing out electronic devices.
