30.7.2024 | Since the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023, the Itä-Uusimaa Police Department has been investigating an international organised crime group led from Poland. The group is suspected of having imported to Finland considerable volumes of narcotics and their precursors.

24.2.2023 | The National Bureau of Investigation has started a criminal investigation into a suspected money collection offence committed by a man living in Lahti. The suspect was apprehended in Lahti yesterday on 23 February.

31.8.2023 | The Vastaamo hacking case, involving suspected aggravated computer break-in, aggravated attempted extortion and aggravated dissemination of information violating personal privacy, has been under investigation by the police since autumn 2020. The criminal investigation is now completed and referred to the prosecutor for consideration of charges.

17.5.2024 | Spanish law enforcement authorities carried out an operation in which two persons targeted by the Finnish Police were also arrested. Spain authorities released information about the operation earlier this week. This joint search and arrest operation between Spain, Finland, Sweden and Poland was coordinated by the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) and carried out in the regions of Barcelona and Malaga on Tuesday 23 April.

3.2.2023 | The police have investigated GPS interference that occurred in the Finnish territory in spring 2022, and several airspace violations in Finnish airspace in spring and summer 2022. These criminal investigations have been interrupted because the suspects are not known to the police.

15.3.2024 | National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) conducts investigation into an alleged aggravated money laundering as a Finnish company has received money from Ukraine for supplying protection gear to the war zone. According to the criminal investigation, a total of 5.7 million euros was sent to a Finnish entrepreneur from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

2.5.2023 | The National Bureau of Investigation and the National Criminal Police of Estonia have investigated together aggravated trafficking in human beings involving companies with links to the construction industry. It is suspected that an organisation consisting of different companies and individuals has deceived several dozen workers into coming to work in Finland in circumstances such as forced labour and has gained criminal proceeds of over 2.3 million euros from this activity.

10.8.2022 | The National Bureau of Investigation investigates a denial of service attack on Parliament's website as interference of a computer system.

26.4.2023 | The criminal investigation into the data breach against Psychotherapy Centre Vastaamo and the subsequent leak of sensitive customer data is expected to be completed in the late summer of 2023. The police urge the victims of extortion or dissemination of information violating personal privacy to report the crime to the police and fill in the statement form available on Police e-services by the end of May, unless they have already done so.

24.9.2024 | The national human trafficking investigative team of the Helsinki Police Department is transferring a suspected criminal case for the consideration of charges as aggravated usury. The police suspects that kickbacks were collected from up to 200 Ethiopian healthcare employees. The prime suspect has remained in custody since July.

27.10.2022 | The police and the Border Guard have investigated a large case of suspected human trafficking of Thai wild berry pickers in Finland. Two persons have been remanded and one has been arrested.

3.10.2022 | The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Border Guard and the Helsinki Police Department investigate suspected human trafficking in connection with a Finnish berry company. Two persons have been remanded on suspicion of trafficking in human beings.

30.9.2022 | The criminal investigation has revealed that the victims lost their money after being scammed into making investments on online crypto investment platforms.

4.4.2024 | Investigation into the shooting incident at Viertola school in Vantaa on Tuesday 02 April 2024 continues, including interviews with the individuals involved and technical investigation.

6.4.2022 | The National Bureau of Investigation investigates airspace violations by Russian civil aircraft. The violations are investigated as regulation offences.

3.2.2023 | A 25-year-old man suspected of the aggravated computer break-in has been arrested in France under a European arrest warrant. The police issued the arrest warrant for the suspect in October 2022.

27.2.2023 | The National Bureau of Investigation will request that the Finnish man suspected of the computer break-in committed against Psychotherapy Centre Vastaamo be placed on remand by the Western Uusimaa District Court in Espoo on Tuesday 28 February. The suspect was surrendered to Finland on Friday 24 February from France, where he was arrested at the beginning of the month.

15.7.2022 | The analysing period of personal data will become significantly longer based on a new Europol decree that came into force in the end of June. The new decree will prolong Europol’s analysing period of personal data significantly compared to the previous decree.
