31.8.2023 | The Vastaamo hacking case, involving suspected aggravated computer break-in, aggravated attempted extortion and aggravated dissemination of information violating personal privacy, has been under investigation by the police since autumn 2020. The criminal investigation is now completed and referred to the prosecutor for consideration of charges.

26.4.2023 | The criminal investigation into the data breach against Psychotherapy Centre Vastaamo and the subsequent leak of sensitive customer data is expected to be completed in the late summer of 2023. 3.2.2023 | A 25-year-old man suspected of the aggravated computer break-in has been arrested in France under a European arrest warrant. The police issued the arrest warrant for the suspect in October 2022.

27.2.2023 | The National Bureau of Investigation will request that the Finnish man suspected of the computer break-in committed against Psychotherapy Centre Vastaamo be placed on remand by the Western Uusimaa District Court in Espoo on Tuesday 28 February. The suspect was surrendered to Finland on Friday 24 February from France, where he was arrested at the beginning of the month.

The suspect, who is a man in his twenties, has been remanded since December 2022. The complex investigation has links to a wider criminal phenomenon in which Finnish people have lost millions of euros in recent years.

By the end of June, approximately 25,000 crimes related to the case have been solved.
