The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is a national unit of the Finnish Police operating across Finland and dealing with a wide range of duties.

4.3.2026 | Police of Finland will participate this year for the first time in a global Interpol campaign to honour officers fallen in the line of duty. The flags will be flown at half-mast at police stations all over Finland on Friday 6 March. 

4.12.2025 | The Police Museum's new online exhibition “In Memoriam – Police killed in the line of duty” examines the history of police fatalities. The exhibition reveals for example the most dangerous types of assignments for police officers and how the work community responded to these events in different periods.

25.9.2025 | An exhibition opening in the new gallery facility of the Police Museum describes art crime through 14 criminal cases. Forged artwork of works by Reidar Särestöniemi, Helene Schjerfbeck, Pablo Picasso and others will be on display in the exhibition from October 1.

19.1.2026 | The highlights of the year were the special exhibition on Art Crime Cases and the In Memoriam online exhibition, which opened in the autumn. The museum also hosted several events.

15.3.2024 | The new special exhibition Marias and Mörkös – Police Vehicles On and Off the Road, opens for the general public on 26 April 2024. Due to finishing work required for the exhibition, the museum is closed on 22–25 April.

6.11.2025 | The collection services of the Police Museum will not be available from January 1 to August 31, 2026. The information service related to the museum items is closed during this period. Moreover, the museum does not receive donations of objects.

10.10.2023 | Forged works by “Gallen-Kallela”, “Schjerfbeck” and “Picasso”, information about art crime cases, the related investigations and cooperation between the authorities – all this can still be explored at the Police Museum in Tampere until mid-December.

15.6.2023 | The Crime Museum, situated on the premises of the National Bureau of Investigation in Vantaa, has been part of the Police Museum since 2019. The Crime Museum’s exhibition will now be renewed. The exhibition is not open to the general public, but some exhibits of the Crime Museum are on display at the Police Museum in Tampere.

5.8.2025 | The national Police Day will be celebrated on Saturday August 30, 2025. On that day, you will have a chance to get acquainted with police activities and equipment at the Police Museum and in its yard. Lots of fun activities are in store for the whole family!

7.1.2025 | One important factor behind the popularity was the Marias and Mörkös special exhibition, which opened in spring 2024 and features, among other things, the world’s fastest police motorcycle and police cars from various decades.

30.6.2025 | In the future, the Police Museum will keep the historical artefacts of the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo). The items transferred to the museum collections include objects such as a secret mailbox from the 1950s related to espionage and bottles found at sea in the 1970s, intended for the smuggling of prohibited material.
