Southwestern Finland Police Department, units and services

We provide police services in Southwestern Finland from Turku archipelago to Kankaanpää. The area is characterised by the proximity of the sea. The police may also need a boat or ferry to move in the Archipelago Sea. Especially in summer, we also serve a large number of tourists and boaters in the archipelago. Olkiluoto nuclear power station is situated in our area.

    Book an appointment beforehand, if possible.

    For information about pending cases, contact the police department that is processing your case. You can request records and copies by contacting the police department or station.

    The cost for a call to the Police is

    • the local network charge (pvm) if you call using a landline number
    • cellular phone charge (mpm) if you use a mobile phone
    • international call charge if you call from abroad.

    You will pay for the call in line with your operator tariff. Waiting time is also paid for.

Huittinen police station

    One of the police stations of Southwestern Finland Police Department. Police station is service point of local police. The duty of the local police is to maintain public order and security; to take measures to prevent crime; to investigate crimes and other events threatening public order and security; to direct and monitor traffic and promote traffic safety, and to implement any other duties prescribed to the policy by law or that they are obliged to carry out.

    Local police are responsible for police licence services, which are offered at police service points, as well as at several joint service points across the country. Licence services provided by the police are linked to core policing operations, the maintenance of public order and safety, crime prevention and the promotion of traffic safety.

Kankaanpää police station

    Local police are responsible for police licence services, which are offered at police service points, as well as at several joint service points across the country. Licence services provided by the police are linked to core policing operations, the maintenance of public order and safety, crime prevention and the promotion of traffic safety.

    Opening hours Mon., Wed. and Thu. at 9.00 - 11.30 and 12.30 - 16.00. From June 3, 2024, open Monday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    In Kankaanpää, booking an appointment for licence services is recommended. The queueing times can be several hours long and the police cannot guarantee smooth and flexible service without an appointment. We hope to submit firearm license applications on the police's electronic transaction platform.

    Inspection of firearms can be done by appointment at the police stations in Turku, Salo, Loimaa, Pori, Kemiönsaari, Rauma and Uusikaupunki.

Salo police station

  • Description
    One of the police stations of Southwestern Finland Police Department. Police station is service point of local police. The duty of the local police is to maintain public order and security; to take measures to prevent crime; to investigate crimes and other events threatening public order and security; to direct and monitor traffic and promote traffic safety, and to implement any other duties prescribed to the policy by law or that they are obliged to carry out.

    Local police are responsible for police licence services, which are offered at police service points, as well as at several joint service points across the country. Licence services provided by the police are linked to core policing operations, the maintenance of public order and safety, crime prevention and the promotion of traffic safety.

    In Salo booking an appointment for licence services is recommended. The queueing times can be several hours long and the police cannot guarantee smooth and flexible service without an appointment. We hope to submit firearm license applications on the police's electronic transaction platform.
    When ready, documents may be picked up without an appointment or a queue number.

    Inspection of firearms
    Inspection of firearms can be done by appointment at the police stations in Turku, Salo, Loimaa, Pori, Kemiönsaari, Rauma and Uusikaupunki.

Turku main police station

  • Description
    Turku main police station is located close to Aurajoki river in the city centre. The police duty desk receives reports of an offence. You can also apply for a passport, identity card and other permits at us. We deal with lost property and firearm permit matters. There are also eleven other police stations in our area.

    In Turku, booking an appointment for licence services is recommended. The queueing times can be several hours long and the police cannot guarantee smooth and flexible service without an appointment.

    Lost and found
    Opening hours Mon. - Fri. at 9 - 12
    Keys are being kept in a showcase in the lobby of the police station. Keys can be redeemed during regular opening hours by showing a duplicate of the lost key. We do not give out information regarding lost keys by telephone.
    Found properties are stored for three months.

    Inspection of firearms
    Inspection of firearms can be done by appointment at the police stations in Turku, Salo, Loimaa, Pori, Kemiönsaari, Rauma and Uusikaupunki.
