Many traffic offences with serious consequences have occurred recently where the driver has hit a pedestrian on a pedestrian crossing. Chief Superintendent Heikki Kallio appeals to drivers to be extremely alert around pedestrian crossings. Visibility is poor in the dark, rain and snowfall.

Violence, and in particular domestic violence against women, is a serious problem in Finland. Violence is by nature also often mental violence. Both the victim and the perpetrator need help.
