26.6.2025 | Aggravated endangerment of traffic safety and drunken driving in Midsummer traffic

17.6.2025 | Due to Midsummer, customer services, including permit services and the reception of crime reports, will be closed at all Western Uusimaa police stations on Friday June the 20th. However, the police’s online services will remain available as usual.

19.6.2024 | The police will monitor Midsummer traffic with both traditionally marked and unmarked vehicles and automatic surveillance devices. The main focus of enforcement will be on driving speeds, overtaking and driving distances, as well as control of intoxicants both on land and on water.

27.6.2023 | The Midsummer weekend was celebrated in warm weather throughout the country, but fortunately that was not reflected in the number of drownings: only two cases were reported to the police, two less than at Midsummer weekend in 2022. However, six people died in road traffic over Midsummer this year, four more than in 2022. The number of those injured was 33, 21 less than over Midsummer 2022.

30.6.2022 | After February this year, about 2000 applications of temporary protection related to the war in Ukraine have been filed with the Western Uusimaa Police Department. During week 24, the number of applications filed within the Police Department areas was 70 while the week preceding midsummer they were 50. On a weekly level, the number of applications show a slightly rising trend but nothing indicates that the application numbers would start to grow significantly.
