Western Uusimaa Police Department wants to remind people about road safety and the possibility to use online services also during the Midsummer weekend.
The Midsummer weekend once again brings heavy traffic to the main roads. Western Uusimaa police department urges all road users to exercise caution and patience in traffic. It is recommended to start your journey well-rested and with enough time. Observing speed limits and maintaining proper safety distances reduces the risk of accidents significantly. In addition, using a seatbelt prevents serious injuries in the event of an accident.
During Midsummer, the police will pay special attention to monitoring speeding and drink driving. No one should get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants under any circumstances. The police will also monitor waterway traffic.
Emergency response patrols will continue their normal operations throughout Midsummer. For the police, the mid-summer holiday often involves various disturbance-related tasks. The police expect a busy weekend but hope that people enjoy themselves and take care of one another.
On Midsummer’s Eve, 19th of June, all customer service points of the Western Uusimaa Police will be closed. Permit services, lost property services, and the reception of crime reports will not be available, but the online services are available every day of the year. Through the service, many passport, identity card, crime report, and firearms-related matters can be handled.
The police wish everyone a warm and safe Midsummer celebration!
