Around 30 police psychology and police medicine experts from 25 European countries meet from 3 to 5 September at the Police College in Tampere for the European Police College's (CEPOL) course. Members of the Police Command also take part in the course as participants and as lecturers. The theme of the Prepared mind - Successful operations course is the effect of traumatic experiences on police work.

"For instance stress management and mental preparation for crisis situations are discussed at the meeting. The purpose of the lectures, discussions and workshops is to learn from real events: we discuss e.g. how stressful experiences can be turned into resources in policing," says the director of the course, the Police College's psychology teacher Mari Koskelainen .

The course is a continuation of CEPOL's Empen Network meetings held in previous years. The Empen Network is a network for European medicine and psychology experts in the police sector.

Each year, CEPOL organises more than a hundred training events in EU countries. CEPOL's goal is to promote the development of uniform European police activities and cooperation between police training institutes in the European Union Member States.
