More than 21,400 people visited the Police Museum in 2014 - the largest number of visitors recorded in the museum's history. There were over 20,200 visitors in the previous year.

“We had a record number of visitors, despite not opening any new exhibitions. The Police in Fiction exhibition, which ended in October, has been the Police Museum's most popular in the 10 years since it opened,” explains Aimo Aitasalo , the museum superintendent.

“In Tampere, we have established ourselves as a family attraction. We have received very positive feedback for our fascinating exhibits and activities for visitors of all kinds.”

A new special exhibition will open in April

The Police Museum sets up a new special exhibition every one and half years or so. In April 2015, a new special exhibition called Demanding situations and the use of force will be opened.

“Our new special exhibition offers a wide variety of hands-on activities. Visitors can roll up their sleeves and get to work; for example, they can see just how easy it is to move the 80kg dummy used in the Police University College entrance exams,” Aitasalo promises.
