Tampere will hold its Night of the Museums on May 17th, and the Police Museum will be taking part in the event. The museum is open from 18:00 to 22:00 (also open normally from 12:00 to 17:00).

In the evening the Police Museum will have events for the whole family. For instance, at the Pokela police station it will be possible for children to try on an authentic police uniform.  During the event visitors will get the chance to examine objects that are usually not on display.

- From our collections, we will bring out the coat of a uniform from 1951, for instance. Museum guests will get a chance to try on the coat if they like.  Experiences of the museum visit, such as a the visitor's photograph in an old uniform, can be shared in the social media under  #Poliisimuseo or @Poliisimuseo, says researcher Maritta Jokiniemi .

A bracelet for the events of the Night of the Museums costs € 9, a group ticket for up to five people costs € 25.  Children under the age of seven can take part in the event free of charge. The Police Museum accepts only cash as payment for the bracelet. The bracelet is valid for admission to all venues and events of the Night of the Museums. The bracelet is also good for free bus rides on Tampere's public transport system operating between the centre, Hervanta, and Pispala.
