Summer tip: Activities for the whole family at the National Police Museum

Looking for some summer fun for the whole family? Head out to the National Police Museum in Hervanta in Tampere. At the museum you can sit in the back of a police van, see Finland's first lottery machine, or gaze up to the ceiling for a glimpse of a special operations unit member climbing down a rope.

"The National Police Museum is an interesting and free attraction for visitors of all ages. The permanent exhibition showcases the Finnish Police and its duties from the Middle Ages to modern times. You also still have time to visit the special exhibition Police in Fiction on the favourite police characters from Finnish literature, film and TV series," says curator Maritta Jokiniemi .

The children's section of the museum, the Pokela police station, contains plenty of activities for children. They can dress up in police uniforms or play the part of the robber in the Pokela jail. All children get a police hat to take home with them.

To share your visit to the museum on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, use @Poliisimuseo or #Poliisimuseo. You can take a photo of yourself in an old "mug shot" chair or in the back of a police van.
