A threat against a shopping center published at TOR-website on 1st of May

The police of Western-Uusimaa informed in Twitter on 1st of May, that a threat against a shopping center in Espoo has occurred. The police informs, that nothing implicates to a situation where tenants in the area or any agents operating in the area should avoid any places nearby or leave things undone because of the threat.

Chief Inspector Teemu Värtinen says, that police is investigating the matter as an unlawful threat. The term of crime classification will be changed if needed when the investigation proceeds.

Värtinen says, that in the threat the mentioned shopping center is Iso Omena in Matinkylä, Espoo. The police has been in active co-operation with the management of the shopping center immediately when the threat had been revealed.

The information the police have at the moment indicates that it is safe to run errands normally everywhere in the shopping center area ea. the library etc.

- In the future days are our police patrols moving around shopping centers in Espoo. This is part of our daily co-operation between the police and shopping centers, Värtinen tells.

Between yesterday and this morning the emergency center and the police stations have got a lot of information and tips from the public.

- It is very good, that people have the ease to contact the authorities in cases like this, Värtinen says.
