The police will be joining the match of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League in the Telia 5G Arena in Helsinki, on Wednesday the 31st July 2019. The task is to ensure general order and safety, in addition to directing traffic.
– It is a big public event. The police will prepare for possible traffic congestions and general disorder. Safety arrangements might cause traffic cuts in the vicinity of the arena and around the city center, says Chief Inspector Seppo Kujala , from the Helsinki Police Department.
Parking spaces around the arena are limited, so the police recommend event goers to take public transport and to reserve plenty of time to arrive. Others should take in consideration that the area will be exceptionally crowded on Wednesday.
The match between HJK from Helsinki and Red Star Belgrade (FK Crvena Zvezda) starts in Töölö at 7pm and ends at around 9pm.
The police will report on the traffic situation and possible other safety measures in real time on Twitter. You can follow the Helsinki Police Twitter account, even if you don´t have an account on the platform: twitter.com/helsinkipoliisi .
