The traditional Police Day will be marked in Finland on Saturday 26 August 2023. Police departments will arrange events in more than 20 locations across Finland. Come and join in!

A list of the locations and times of the events can be found on the police website at poliisi.fi/en/policeday. On social media the events can be found under the hashtags #PoliisinPäivä, #PolisensDag and #PoliceDay.

Police Day programme for all ages

Police Day events are open to everyone and are suitable for all ages. Police vehicles are usually the enduring favourite at the events. See the poliisi.fi/en/policeday website for details of local events.

The police invite people to the events to discuss topical issues. Young people and safety are the main themes at this year’s events. Besides this, there will be separate locally interesting themes and programme features. We are also prepared to tell about the police as an employer and the diverse range of career opportunities in both police and civilian duties.

People can meet National Police Commissioner Seppo Kolehmainen at the event held by Lapland Police Department in Rovaniemi, where Helsinki Police Symphonic Band’s Nalleorkesteri orchestra will also perform.

Police Day has been held in its present form since 2009, with thousands of people attending the events each year. After a couple of exceptional years, the event was again held normally in 2022. In 2021, Police Day was cancelled due to the corona epidemic and in 2020 it was held virtually.

Police Day events are aimed at promoting local face-to-face police visibility and interaction with local residents and in this way strengthen the sense of security and trust in the activities of the authorities
