Police enforced driving speeds across Finland on 23 – 25 August 2024

The police spent 2200 working hours on the enforcement operation.

The enforcement operation resulted in the police catching 35 drivers guilty of causing a serious traffic hazard, 21 of the drivers were under the age of 25. In addition, 86 drivers were guilty of gross negligence, 39 of the drivers were under the age of 25. 

Traditional traffic surveillance resulted in the issuance of 635 fines, 194 of which were issued to drivers under the age of 25, and 251 traffic penalty fees, of which 42 were issued to drivers under the age of 25.

“Every driver should remember that speeding always increases the risk of a road accident and that high speeds multiply the risks of driving. So let's be responsible drivers and respect speed limits,” Chief Superintendent Heikki Ihalainen reminds drivers.
