Police investigating the collapse of a bridge in Espoo

A footbridge structure failed in Tapiola, Espoo on the morning of 11 May. Several people fell a number of metres as the bridge collapsed. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

A plyboard-based footbridge collapsed in Tapiola, Espoo at around 9.30am on Thursday morning 11 May. The bridge was used by the public as a footbridge. Several people fell a number of metres as the bridge gave way. At this stage, the police have no details on the wellbeing of those on the bridge other than that they are receiving further treatment.

Rescue services, first aid and police units are at the scene. The police are carrying out a technical investigation and other investigations into the incident continue.
