Police is investigating the stabbing of several people in Ratina, Tampere

On Thursday, 3 July 2025 at around 16.20, the police received information about a stabbing near the Ratina shopping centre in Tampere.

The police captured the suspect quickly after the incident in the immediate area of the scene. The suspect is an adult Finnish male. The attack resulted in injuries to four people. All victims are adults. The incident did not result in any fatalities and the victims are not currently known to be in danger of death.

The police isolated the scene for investigation and traffic in the area was restricted. The police left the scene and the isolation was lifted by 19.00.

As far as the police know at this stage, there is no reason to suspect that the act was motivated by terrorism or racism.

The incident is being investigated on suspicion of four attempted manslaughters. The type of offences are being clarified and may change as the preliminary investigation progresses.

The police will hold a media briefing on the incident on Friday 4.7.2025 at 11.00. A separate invitation has been sent out.
