The Police have published an information pack targeted at asylum seekers. The pack comprises a video and a brochure, which have been translated into multiple languages. The information pack is available online at poliisi.fi/tietoaturvapaikanhakijoille.

The brochure explains the duties and powers of the police in Finland, how to report crimes, and the rights and responsibilities of people residing in Finland. The brochure is available in Arabic, Badini, Pashto, Kurmanji, Somali, English, Finnish and Swedish.

The video was shot at an information event organised by the Police for asylum seekers in the autumn of 2015. In the video, Sergeant Nina Pelkonen talks about subjects such as the status of women, the use of tobacco and alcohol, the treatment of children, and gender equality. The video has subtitles in Arabic, Somali and Kurdish.

The video can be found online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-4Ty_5A3z4&.

Local police forces work continuously with reception centres in their areas and help to ensure that asylum seekers are educated on Finnish society.
