Police are aware of a challenge circulating on TikTok urging children and teenagers to take edged weapons with them to school.
The police have investigated the authenticity of the challenge, but have not received any confirmation in the matter. We want to remind that it is illegal to take edged weapons to school or carry them in public places. If such an object is detected in the possession a child or young person, the police will investigate the matter and a child welfare report will be made.
We encourage parents to engage in dialogue with their children about the challenges spreading online and encourage children to tell adults if they see such material on social media.
