The examination of the bus accident yesterday continues

The police have continued to talk to the passengers victims in the yesterday’s bus accident today. By means of the discussions a lot of new detailed information has been discovered in order to support the already existing information concerning the events. As the preliminary examination being still in a primary phase the police do not regard it as meaningful to disclose more the information received so far.

Four people that were born in the 1940s and in the 1950s died in the accident. Two of them were Swedish citizens, one woman a Finnish citizen and one man had a double citizenship in Sweden and in Finland. All the relatives of the dead victims have been informed on the matter.

Also the bus driver born in 1951 in Ylitornio was hurt in the accident.

Yesterday, on Friday August 24th 2018, at approximately 2.50 pm a charter bus coming from the direction of north suddenly fell from the motorway junction to the rail. The group of people travelling on the bus was on the way to Kuopio for a spa holiday.

The bus was coming from the direction of north and left the motorway at the junction of Jynkä/Kolmisoppe. The bus fell to the right on itse way to the direction forward abd fell from the bridge staying by its side on the rails. Before falling from the junction to the rail the bus had crashed five private cars in the junction. One driver, who was hurt in the accident in the car, was transported to hospital.

The accident is being examined as a severe negligence of traffic safety and as well as four homicides. The criminal nominations examined may still be altered as the preliminry examination continues.

The police will give more information on the matter next time at the beginning of the following week, unless some more urgent information will still be disclosed in the matter.
