The Helsinki Police Department will lead the joint exercise

Joint exercise between the Police of Finland, the Finnish Border Guard and the Finnish Defence Forces will be held in the Uusimaa region from May 20 to May 22, 2024. Exercise locations include, among others, Santahamina in Helsinki, the maritime area of Helsinki and Upinniemi in Kirkkonummi. Helicopters will participate in the exercise.

The Helsinki Police Department will lead the exercise. The police are also in charge of hybrid situations before any recognisable military actions. 

“The police, the Border Guard, and the Defence Forces have an excellent ability to respond to various situations together. Exercises are the most concrete way to develop cooperation,” says Chief Superintendent Juha Hietala. 

Personnel and equipment from the police, the Border Guard, and the Defence Forces will be present in the exercise areas. The exercise is part of the annual plan.
