The police have completed the preliminary investigation of a traffic accident that occurred on the Pellontie road on the 19th of December 2024. The accident claimed two lives.
The police suspect that the driver of the minibus had swerved to the left to avoid a vehicle ahead that was slowing down and about to turn, and did not notice an oncoming bus.
The bus driver attempted to brake and swerve to the right side of the road. Despite this, the minibus hit the left front corner of the bus.
The driver of the minibus and the passenger behind him were killed instantly. Three other passengers were seriously injured and one passenger suffered minor injuries. The 30 passengers in the bus suffered minor injuries.
At the time of the incident, driving conditions were poor due to snowfall that had continued throughout the day.
Based on the investigation, the police do not suspect anyone of a crime except the driver of the minibus. As the suspect is deceased, the case will not proceed to prosecution.
The police will not provide any further information on the case.
