The nationalities of the passengers in the bus accident in Kuopio have been determined

The police have been able to determine the matter concerning the nationalities of the passengers in the bus accident in Kuopio yesterday. Among the passengers twelve (12) persons have a Finnish citizenship, seven (7) people have the Swedish nationality and three (3) people have a double citizenship.

Altogether there were 21 passengers and a driver in the bus.

Four people died in the accident. There are several injured people. There has not yet been a chance to inform all the relatives of the victims on the exact details of this accident. Besides, one driver among the accident cars was also transported to hospital due to injuries.

The accident is being investigated as an aggravated endangerment of traffic safety together with the negligent homicide of four people.

The police consider the possible cause for this accident a technical defect, the driver’s traffic behaviour and the state of health prior to the time before the accident as well as the traffic conditions.

The police have been able to get to talk the passengers in the accident bus in Kuopio.

The bus had been lifted off the rail during last night and moved away from the accident place for further investigation. The police have finalized their own crime scene investigation on the accident place. Other technical investigations will be continuing.
