Many environment activists are currently gathering in Hanhikivi region and preparing themselves to protest against the nuclear power plant worksite. During this week it is expected that the planned events will affect the security in the area. Therefore the police has increased its state of readiness and the number of police resources has been increased. Police hopes that the protests can be set up peacefully, following the common rules and good habits.
The work site in the end of the cape is surrounded with a fence and marked with No Entry -signs. Everyone is obliged and expected to follow that order.
According to the media releases, the activists are planning to "reclaim" the cape on Tuesday 26 April, by entering the area, despite of the fence.
Illegal entering to the enclosed work site is a crime. Suspects will be arrested and criminal investigation will be set up.
The police stresses that legal and peaceful ways to protest are accepted but all illegal activities will be stopped by the police and the security organization of the work site.
