The police monitored speeds near schools and on routes used by schoolchildren across the country during the first week of school. Monitoring was carried out using cars equipped with automatic devices and by traditional means.

A total of 9,506 vehicles passed an automatic control point. Of these vehicles, a total of 385 exceeded the speed limit by up to 20 km/h and were issued a traffic penalty fee, while 43 vehicles exceeded the speed limit by even more. In other words, around 4.5% of drivers were speeding at a level that led to consequences for them.

A total of 401 traffic penalty fees and 290 fines for speeding were issued during traditional speed monitoring.

A total of 352 traffic penalty fees and 47 fines for speeding were issued during automatic monitoring under a similar scheme last year. During traditional monitoring in August 2021, the totals were 306 traffic penalty fees and 242 fines.
