The police will increase its presence of sites subject to frequent disturbances
The Helsinki Police Department will increase its presence to monitor public order and safety of sites subject to frequent criminal activities and disturbances from November 13 to December 3, 2023, in cooperation with its stakeholders.
The sites have been selected based on the police’s own information and feedback received from stakeholders. The surveillance operations will be planned and implemented in cooperation with HSL, Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd, VR and Helsinki’s youth work operations.
“Increased police presence decreases disturbances and increases the sense of security. Police activities will focus on public transport, junctions of public transport and meeting places favoured by the young. The police’s increased presence will mainly take place in the evenings and at the weekends,” says Chief Inspector Hanna Kiiskinen.
The results will be reported after the control campaign have ended.
