Oulu Police Department, units and services

We operate in 38 municipalities in the counties of Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia (Pohjois-Pohjanmaa). Our area of operation includes about 61 600 square kilometres, with about 488 000 residents. The Police Department is composed of 14 police stations. The main police station is located in Oulu, in Ruskonselkä. Our other police stations are located in downtown Oulu, Haapavesi, Haapajärvi, Kajaani, Kalajoki, Kuhmo, Kuusamo, Muhos, Pudasjärvi, Raahe, Sotkamo, Suomussalmi, Taivalkoski, and Ylivieska. The information under each police station contains the services supplied and opening hours, as well as the instructions to order records, protocols and copies.

    Prefer online services.

    Read the instructions first before applying for a passport, identity card or other permit, or submitting a crime report. Book an appointment beforehand, if possible.

    The police department that handles your case gives responses to pending cases. You can order pre-trial investigation reports and inquiries about unfinished investigationsrecords and copies from the police department or police station. Please do not come to the duty desk at the police station or to permit services with weapons, ammunition or explosives. In matters related to the inspection and handover of weapons, please read the instructions for arrival at the police station or permit services on the website of the relevant office.

    Police helpline

    The police helpline gives advice on non-urgent matters regarding licences, appointment bookings, e-services and traffic surveillance.

    Price of service

    The cost for a call to the Police is

    • the local network charge (pvm) if you call using a landline number
    • cellular phone charge (mpm) if you use a mobile phone
    • international call charge if you call from abroad.

    You will pay for the call in line with your operator tariff. Waiting time is also paid for.

Haapajärvi Police Station
