The main police station of the Southeastern Finland Police Department serves right next to the city center. The main entrance is at the end of the jumping hills. The police matters service receives criminal reports. You can apply for a passport, identity card and other permits from the licence services. You can ask for lost property at the information point.

We mainly serve by appointment and appointment customers are called by name without separate registration. If you don’t make an appointment, take the shift number and be prepared to queue. The shift number device for permit applications closes at 4 p.m. The completed document can be picked up without an appointment with a shift number when the licensing services are open.

Lost property
Open Mon-Fri 8-12 and 13-16.15
From the lost property service at the information point, you can inquire about your lost property by doing business, calling and emailing. You should come and ask for the lost keys on the spot.

Inspection of firearms
Open Wed 9-11 and 13-15
Inspection of firearms are conducted on Wednesdays from 9-11 and 13-15 without an appointment. Take the shift number and go to wait room no. 3. In other transactions, the time must be agreed at the weapons inspection.

Please use our online services and book a service time in advance, whenever possible. Read the instructions first before making an application for a passport, personal ID card or other permit or filing a Police report.

If a case is underway and pending, the responses are given by the Police department handing the case. For example, to order copies of records of investigation or criminal reports, please contact the Police department or station directly. Please check the contact details of the department or station in question.

The cost for a call to the Police is

  • the local network charge (pvm) if you call using a landline number
  • cellular phone charge (mpm) if you use a mobile phone
  • international call charge if you call from abroad.

You will pay for the call in line with your operator tariff. Waiting time is also paid for.

Reporting an offence

The victim of a crime should file a report of the offence with the Police as soon as possible.

Approval as a guard

A person who is performing security guard duties is required to have a valid guard licence.

Approval as a temporary guard

A temporary guard licence is required for a person who is performing guard duties for up to four months.

Approval of security stewards

A person who performs security stewarding duties is required to have a valid security steward identity card.

Security officer certification

A valid security officer licence is required when a person carries out security tasks for the purpose of earning income.

Notice of a public event

The organiser of a public event must submit a written notice to the local police.

Public meeting

The police must receive notification about any public meeting that is due to take place outdoors and in a public place at least 24 hours in advance.

Reinstating the right to drive

After a permit holder’s death, the administrator of their estate must immediately seize all firearms and obtain permits for them within six months.

A weapon is presented to the police in connection with a change of owner or licence modification. The police may request this also for other reasons.

The Firearms Administration of the National Police Board authorises weapon collectors.
