4.12.2025 | According to the Police Barometer, Finns are particularly concerned about crimes committed by young people, firearms, and the use and sale of drugs in public places. The police have defined crime prevention as the priority for next year.

4.6.2025 | National Police Commissioner Ilkka Koskimäki received the new police officers’ ethical oath at the Police University College on Wednesday 4 June 2025. In his speech, Ilkka Koskimäki highlighted the safety and security of schools. The police support the security work carried out in educational institutions. However, the security of schools is a more extensive issue, and not a matter for the police alone.

12.1.2021 | The distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in the online environment has increased significantly in recent years. At the same time, brutal material has also become increasingly common.

7.10.2020 | Last year police learned of slightly fewer suspected hate crimes than in 2018, according to an annual report on hate crimes from the Police University College. According to the report, a total of 899 criminal complaints were filed last year about acts that were classified as suspected hate crimes. The number declined, approaching the longer-term level that preceded the surge in growth in such crimes that took place in 2015.

18.12.2020 | The results of the stakeholder survey of the Police University College (Polamk), which was conducted in the autumn of 2020, are ready. More than 400 collaborative partners from Finnish and foreign police organisations, education or research organisations, other public organisations and businesses responded to the survey. The response rate for the survey was 43 percent.
