Friday 19 February marks the start of the winter holiday season, with the holidays beginning in the South of Finland. In road traffic this means that the following weekends will be exceptionally busy on the roads, irrespective of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As always, the policy will be in charge of traffic safety throughout the county, focusing particularly on drunken driving, speeding and driving style faults, such as too short safety distances, use of the seat belts and tyres to match the weather conditions.

However, he also reminds the holidaymakers that anyone setting off to the winter holiday traffic outside their own living area should consider the trip with care. There are still very many new corona cases, and the ways to control the spreading of the disease are based on regional measures, in particular.
Anyone starting their holidays outside the home should pay careful attention to the recommendations issued by the Institute of Health and Welfare (THL) and the various hospital districts.
