The Police Band of Helsinki Police Department and the preventive measures operative have launched a campaign called Together! in cooperation with the City of Helsinki. The campaign seeks young people interested in music to play and perform together with the band and a famous artist.

Together! is for Helsinki youth aged 13–17 years who are interested in different forms of art, such as playing instruments, singing, rapping or dancing, and who might already have some experience in performing.

"The idea came from wanting to provide young people new opportunities, something fun to do together, a chance to meet each other and feel joy. We hope that the coronavirus outbreak is not as bad in the upcoming spring, so that these kinds of activities can be organised", says Taneli Rantala, Senior Constable at the Helsinki Police Department.

The joint springtime rehearsals culminate in a concert performed with a popular musician at the Helsinki Kansalaistori Square on the school graduation day, Saturday 5 June 2021. The name of the famous artist will be announced later.

"Young people get to make music with professionals and the professionals challenge themselves to produce and interpret different music genres. This is an excellent opportunity for all, and I’m sure everyone will learn something from one another", Rantala continues.

The purpose is to video the rehearsals and everyone’s progress in social media throughout the spring. Before the main concert at the Kansalaistori Square in June, Together! will have a promotion tour of a few gigs in Helsinki.

If COVID-19 prevents the organisation of public events, the tour and final concert will be performed virtually. The current restrictions and recommendations regarding coronavirus will be observed in the project.
