Graffiti art contest for young people in the area of the Eastern Uusimaa Police Department

The Eastern Uusimaa Police Department and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have launched a graffiti art contest for young people. The winners of the contest will get to design a graffiti and paint it on the wall of a gym in Jokiniemi, Vantaa to be shared by the Eastern Uusimaa Police and the NBI.

You can participate in the contest if:

  • you are 15 to 20 years old
  • live in the area of the Eastern Uusimaa Police Department (see the map below)
  • gather a team of 2 to 5 to design and paint a graffiti
  • you are available for 2 to 3 days this autumn to paint the graffiti in Jokiniemi

The graffiti will be painted on the wall of the gym of the new police department building to be completed this autumn. The wall will be 11 metres wide and two metres high. It is hoped that the graffiti will cover the entire wall. Please see the picture below to illustrate the wall to be painted.

Feel free to unleash your creativity in designing the graffiti, but the following themes should be visible in it:

  • a police vehicle
  • physical exercise
  • names of the organisations (IU and KRP)

You can participate in the contest by sending your graffiti proposal, with a plan how to carry it out, by 15 August 2024 to: taidekilpailu.krp@poliisi.fi. Graffiti proposals will be displayed on the social media channels of the police, and the winners of the contest will get to paint the graffiti this autumn. Spray paint and catering for the winner team will of course be provided by the police.
