Eastern Finland Police Department, units and services

We provide police services the regions of Southern Savo, Northern Karelia and Northern Savo. Our area of operation extends to Ilomantsi in the east and from Mäntyharju in the south to Vieremä in the north. There are about 539,000 inhabitants in the area.     Read the instructions first before applying for a passport, identity card or other permit, or submitting a crime report. Book an appointment beforehand, if possible.

    The police department that handles your case gives responses to pending cases. You can order pre-trial investigation reports and inquiries about unfinished investigationsrecords and copies from the police department or police station. Please do not come to the duty desk at the police station or to permit services with weapons, ammunition or explosives. In matters related to the inspection and handover of weapons, please read the instructions for arrival at the police station or permit services on the website of the relevant office.

    The police helpline gives advice on non-urgent matters regarding licences, appointment bookings, e-services and traffic surveillance.

    Price of service

    The cost for a call to the Police is

    • the local network charge (pvm) if you call using a landline number
    • cellular phone charge (mpm) if you use a mobile phone
    • international call charge if you call from abroad.

    You will pay for the call in line with your operator tariff. Waiting time is also paid for.

    The licensing service at the Ilomants police station is located in the so-called security house on Vepsänmäentie. You can apply for a passport, identity card and other permits from us, only a temporary identity card and passport cannot be made. We also handle issues related to weapons licenses. Joensuu Police Station

  • Description
    The licence services of the Joensuu police station are located in the court and police building in Pekkala. You can apply for a passport, identity card, and other permits from us. We handle lost property and take care of matters related to firearm licenses. We mainly serve by appointment. The licence services are accessed through a security check. The licence services are served by appointment from 8 a.m. and by shift number from 9 a.m. Those who have booked an appointment are called by name from the waiting area without separate registration. The shift number machine works from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. There is a separate entrance to the weapons inspection about 30 meters before the main entrance. The weapon inspection is open on Thursdays and you cannot make an appointment there. Found goods/info is open for visiting customers from 9 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 4 pm. Phone hours are 10 am to 12 pm.
