Police contact details for the registration of those applying for residence permit on the basis of need for temporary protection and for asylum seekers

The Police will register the applicants who will have the residence permit on the basis of need for temporary protection. The registration takes place in the Police units listed below. Persons contacting other Police units will be directed to the units listed below.

The application for asylum can be made at all Police Stations in Finland. However, not all Police units will be able to manage the whole application process from the beginning to the end. Applicants visiting units other than those listed below will be directed to take supplementary measures in another Police unit. 

Central Finland Police Department

The Tampere Police Department recommends that the asylum seekers in the Central Finland region go to the Tampere Central Police Station or the Jyväskylä Police Station.

Eastern Finland Police Department

Police request to those applying for asylum and temporary protection in the area of the Eastern Finland Police Department, and to the persons assisting them: before submitting your application at a Police Station, please call the Police helpline at 0295 455 380 (Mon-Fri from 9 to 15) first or contact the Police by email at kv-suojelu.ita-suomi@poliisi.fi. The Police will provide service in Finnish and English to those contacting us through the helpline and/or email.

Based on the first contact, the Police will organise the receiving of the application at one of the following Police stations, closest to where you are.

Eastern Uusimaa Police Department

The Eastern Uusimaa Police Department recommends that the asylum seekers in the Eastern Uusimaa area go to the Police service unit at the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

Helsinki Police Department

The Helsinki Police Department accepts asylum and temporary protection applications at the Helsinki Main Police Station from Monday to Sunday between 9 am and 3 pm.

The police department recommends that applicants for temporary protection bring the code provided by the photographer with them when coming to submit their application.

Häme Police Department

The Häme Police Department recommends that the asylum seekers in the Häme region go to the Lahti Central Police Station or the Hämeenlinna Police Station.

Lapland Police Department

The Police Department of Lapland recommends that the asylum seekers in Lapland go to the Kemi or Rovaniemi Police Stations.

Oulu Police Department

The Oulu Police Department recommends that the asylum seekers in the Oulu region go to one of the three Police Stations listed below.

At the moment the Oulu Central Police Station is crowded. The Police recommends that you apply for temporary protection or asylum at the Oulu reception centre, its address is Heikinharjuntie 66, Oulu.

Please make an appointment with the Police beforehand, so that the reception does not get too full. You can make an appointment by calling to the phone number 0295 464 555, which is open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 4.15 pm. The service languages are Finnish and English.

Ostrobothnia Police Department

The Ostrobothnia Police Department recommends that the asylum seekers in the Oulu region go to one of the three Police Stations listed below.

The Southeastern Finland Police Department recommends that the asylum seekers in the region of Southeastern Finland go to one of the four Police Stations listed below.

The asylum seekers coming to the Southwestern Finland Police Department are primarily directed to the Raisio Police Station.

The on-call service of foreign nationals supervision unit is available on weekdays during office hours from 8 to 16, phone 0295 444 818. In asylum application issues, you can also send an email to ulkomaalaistutkinta.lounais-suomi@poliisi.fi.

Western Uusimaa Police Department

The Western Uusimaa Police Department recommends that the asylum seekers in the Western Uusimaa area go to one of the three Police Stations listed below.
