The Elokapina Extinction Rebellion movement held a demonstration outside of the Government Palace in Helsinki on 8 October. Both the demonstration and the police operation attracted plenty of media attention. The National Police Board has followed the discussion about the matter and on its own initiative has decided to take it up as an internal oversight legality safeguards matter.

A request for information about the matter has been sent to Helsinki Police Department.

Once Helsinki Police Department has provided the information requested in due course, the National Police Board will assess the information and provide a written decision on the matter. The decision will be communicated separately and no further information will be forthcoming before then.
