Police inspected 270 blasting sites during campaign
During a week-long campaign from 4-10 September, the police inspected a total of 270 blasting sites in collaboration with Regional State Administrative Agencies (AVI).
Based on a risk analysis, the purpose of the campaign week was to inspect blasting sites and in particular the safe storage and use of explosives at the sites. At the same time, the police checked the charger’s certificates of the blasters. Another objective of the checks was to have discussions with the actors and to intervene as effectively as possible in any shortcomings detected.
The inspections were mainly targeted at sites that had notified the police of blasting work to be done. A total of 270 sites in the operative areas of different police departments were inspected.
In blasting taking place in population areas, inspections focused on ensuring regulatory compliance. During the campaign, the police checked the site safety plan, blasting plan and if necessary the site plan. The chargers’ certificates and their validity were also verified.
A total of 20 warnings (22 in 2022) were given and three notifications (1 in 2022) leading to measures were made. The police spent more than 700 working hours on the inspections.
