When the new gambling system begins, always check for the identification of the supervisory authority and the licence number. If this information is provided, you can be sure that the operator has a Finnish licence. This means that the operator must comply with the Finnish Gambling Act.
These pages provide further information on how to sign up for self-exclusion with the authority. You will also find answers to frequently asked questions about gambling services and gambling in general, as well as instructions on how to request a recommended decision.
Please note that the Finnish gambling system is undergoing reform, and the content of the pages will be updated. Some of the content is based on old legislation and will be removed in 2027.
Under the new gambling system, the supervisory authority cannot take a position on a dispute between an individual player and a gambling company. In the future, the Consumer Disputes Board will provide recommended decisions. You can ask the National Police Board for a recommended decision on a dispute concerning Veikkaus Oy's gambling services provided before 1 July 2027.
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare are responsible for monitoring and studying gambling-related problems and for developing prevention and treatment.
