Firearms handling license
If you are employed by a holder of a firearms business license, you must hold a license to handle firearms and ammunition at work. The license is issued by a police department.
The firearms handling license entitles you to transport, store or otherwise handle the
- firearms
- firearm components
- cartridges and
- particularly dangerous projectiles
that are part of the business of the firearms business license holder. The license also entitles the holder to discharge firearms for demonstration, trial or training purposes, if this is necessary for the firearms trade.
A firearms handling license can also be issued to a person who will transport, store and otherwise handle firearms, firearm components, cartridges and particularly dangerous projectiles temporarily at work.
When you apply for a firearms handling license, bring with you to the police department
- a passport or identity card
- a passport photo or photo identifier
- the business ID of the holder of a firearms business license and the number of the firearms business license
- employment contract or other certificate issued by the firearms dealer or broker of the work on the basis of which you apply for the license.

In order to be eligible for a firearms handling license, you must be 18 years of age or older. Moreover, your state of health and behaviour must be such that you can be deemed suitable to handle firearms, firearm components, cartridges and particularly dangerous projectiles.
If you are under 20 years of age, the police will include conditions in the firearms handling license. The license will not entitle you to handle a pistol, small-calibre pistol, revolver or small-calibre revolver before you have turned 20 years of age.
