The police refer people to assistance services
In their work, the police must consider the situation of the victim, his/her family and friends and, for example, witnesses, and help them in getting the support they need. Meeting victims requires good people skills and consideration from the police.
The police is obligated to establish the victim’s need for protection and tell him/her about their right to support services. The police can direct a victim to support services with his/her permission.
Support services
Since the police’s primary task is to investigate crimes, they cannot serve as the main provider of mental support. Therefore, the support services’ role in giving sufficient mental support and help is important. No one should be alone. There are a lot of services that give support.
